Chain Lightning – Dynamic Combat Mechanic

A visually striking Chain Lightning ability built in Unreal Engine, allowing players to cast lightning that jumps between enemies, adding depth and strategy to combat. Key Features:Chain Lightning Attack – Strikes an enemy and jumps to nearby targets.Cooldown System – Ability can only be used once every 5 seconds for balanced gameplay.Damage Scaling – Lightning weakens as it chains between multiple enemies.Dynamic Targeting – Automatically selects and strikes enemies within range.Visual & Sound Effects – Includes custom VFX and SFX for impactful feedback.Blueprint Implementation – Built entirely using Unreal Engine’s Blueprint system.
“Designed and implemented a fully functional Chain Lightning ability in Unreal Engine, enhancing combat with strategic depth and visual impact. This mechanic allows players to unleash an electrifying attack that jumps between multiple enemies, dealing progressively reduced damage with each chain.The system was built entirely in Blueprints, ensuring smooth functionality and easy integration into various game environments. A cooldown system prevents overuse, encouraging players to time their attacks strategically. The mechanic also features dynamic targeting, automatically detecting and prioritizing nearby enemies within range.To create an immersive experience, I implemented custom VFX and SFX, adding visual intensity and audio feedback to each lightning strike. The Chain Lightning ability seamlessly integrates into third-person combat, offering players a powerful, balanced attack that rewards tactical positioning.”
