MY HOMETOWN IS UNDER ATTACK is not solely about destroyed structures or their material loss; they are a tribute to the people who once brought these places to life. This made the recent attacks on my hometown of Sumy on April 13th and 18th feel even more personal, reigniting deep anger and an urgent need to speak out. “This project was created specifically for GradEx110. It expands upon my earlier analog animation project, Ruïns, which depicted the destruction of buildings in Ukraine caused by Russian Forces. Through this work, I aim to capture the broader devastation of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian War. As headlines and social media coverage of the war fade from public attention, this project stands as a reminder of the human lives already taken and the war's persistent reality.”
