The Moon Rabbit

The moon rabbit is a mythical figure in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean folklore, usually seen pounding an elixir or rice cakes on the moon. It’s a symbol of kindness, immortality, and seasonal celebration. I illustrated a one-page spread capturing the moment the rabbit offers itself as food to the hungry Emperor, who I’ve personified as a dragon in this retelling.
