The Concept of Land is a digital illustration created with a combination of digital painting, traditional mark-making scanned in, and a digital text overlay of an original poem.
“The Concept of Land calls into question the relationship with land is an unnatural removal of the land’s agency. Colonial powers made the relationship with the land inferior and those who chose to live harmoniously with the land inferior as well. However, the future will require us to reengage with Indigenous practices to give agency back to land and view our relationship with the land as equals.”
