Story of My Pen Friend
Illustration
A Chinese girl, who I actually met in Canada, used to write “fanon” with me. She is also a talented illustrator, who enjoys usingthin, delicate lines and light colors to create a bright and relaxing atmosphere. She told me of a powerful experience she had when she was very young, and still lived in China. Her parents put her to bed one day, where she lay facing the ceiling. The bright sun still shone into her bedroom, and she saw a woman’s figure appear above her, flying close to the ceiling. The woman was not young, nor thin, and wore normal modern clothes, yet was clearly floating there, like a balloon. The woman gave her a deep feeling of peace. She told me that, to this day, that memory brings her great joy and calm, and how this spectacular experience inspired her to continuously try to create the same sense of peacewithin her artworks.
