A part of "Evil and full of Love" - a series on multiplicity and the merge.

“Sex is doubling, it’s a point of continuity where bodies fuse momentarily – inside and outside – swallowing up or traveling through. For me, the sexual act is a point of ambiguity, where temporarily there is a disappearance of the self, and still, we reach back and attempt to grasp it – wanting to dislodge and become singular again and again. The figures in this painting are fusing just as they sit compositionally divided from their environment. They emulate the outside, where snakes slither up trunks and eggs are laid in trees. ”
