“I’m interested in cycles – making up stories and speculating about the ambiguity of God, or the sexual merge, or in my body as it rests inside somebody else's. The hybridized body is both the giver and receiver; concealed and unconcealed – A manner of becoming. I want to make things as I see them primally – where everything is opening, becoming porous and settling in-between folds. Building my work up in layers, I use fleshy or textures mediums to try and get at something entirely physical – where the object becomes its own ecosystem, land inside land. Often, the intermediary is seen as a transitory state, or a purgatory. What would happen if we stayed put and became middled? Getting away from dualism and embracing the multiplicity of a doubled narrative?”
Francis Pitsadiotis is a queer, interdisciplinary artist currently based in Tkaronto/Toronto Canada. Using the artmaking process as sublimation, Pitsadiotis is interested in worldbuilding, creating personal narratives within dynamic figurative compositions that reel with hybridity, intimacy, and eroticism.
