The duality of roles, the arms juxtaposed to the gentle and frail body of an elderly woman, highlighting our limited understanding of power to solely physical attributes, collaging images of supposed power with seemingly vulnerable.

“Inspired by a photograph taken in Alappuzha, Kerala, this piece reimagines an elderly woman as the Hindu goddess Bhadrakali—an embodiment of strength, protection, and matriarchal power. Drawing from personal and familial stories of devotion, the work explores themes of gender, resilience, and generational memory. Modern elements like guns replace traditional weapons, offering a satirical yet reverent take on divine power, while the red tongue symbol pays homage to Kali’s iconic imagery and fierce energy.”
