Animation
A young boy goes on a wonderful yet fleeting adventure in the fantastical world of his favourite animated show, alongside its main hero.
“Adventure Log is a single-channel 2D animated film about a young boy magically transported into the fantastical world of his favourite animated show. He joins its main hero on his wonderful adventures, blissfully unaware of the passage of time, until he inevitably realizes he has physically outgrown his animated hero, signifying a supposed farewell to his childhood self. The film features the bittersweet journey of growing up, highlighting the awkwardness of being abruptly forced to part ways with our younger selves and fantasies. The dilemma the protagonist faces reflects my own experiences of growing up in a conservative society where growing up is often synonymous with giving up on your dreams. It is a question I asked myself, and I intended to find the answer through making this film. The film aims to encourage viewers to face and embrace their past, while looking forward into the future, as limitations we subconsciously impose on ourselves out of fear keeps us from realizing our goals. In many ways the protagonist and I are simultaneously growing as characters; the film serves as a turning point or a milestone that marks the beginning or end of our artistic, authentic selves. ”
