"Patterns" is a 3D environment piece that explores the theme of depression through abstract patterns generated by an AI algorithm. The digital images created by the algorithm were edited by me using Procreate. The piece experiments with colour palettes of blue, grey, and purple to evoke feelings of melancholy. These images were then used as textures for the 3D models in Maya, creating a cohesive visual experience that emphasizes the emotional resonance of the piece. In addition to the abstract patterns generated by AI, this piece also incorporates 3D scanned objects from my everyday life. The work reflects a time when I was feeling overwhelmed with work and studies and struggling with anxiety about the future. The fact that the light of the candles is low in the images emphasizes the tiredness and exhaustion I experienced. Through this work, I hope to provide a visual representation of the complexities of mental health and create a sense of empathy and understanding for those who may be going through similar struggles.
