03 Excuse Me Sir, There is a Floating Crystal of Light Above your House
Mixed Media
2022
MDF, acrylic, polyurethane resin, polyurethane foam, sterling silver, all the lamp fixings.
11" x 6" x 12"
The body of this lamp is made by joining angled panels of MDF (painted), with neon orange acrylic, and finishing off with expandable foam details. The two orange undulating pieces are custom cast resin forms from a mould created uniquely for this lamp. This lamp is wired with an on/off switch, as well as a custom made, high polish sterling silver dimmer. The LED bulbs are equivalent to 25W, as to not make the lamp too bright to look at when switched on. The bottom green panel is removable, giving the user access to the circuit, should they need it (not pictured here). Photo credit: Aleena Derohanian
“Most alien abduction stories start off with an overwhelming presence of light coming from a weird ship, magical spot in the sky, or other unexplained sources. The source of light from this lamp is a little bit more straightforward (if you understand electricity, that is). ”
