Remora is a short sci-fi/fantasy film exploring the intersection of memory, identity, andartificial consciousness. The story follows an amnesiac machine navigating a desolate worldwhere fragments of its past lie buried beneath ruins and warnings. Accompanied by a smallrobot companion, the protagonist seeks to understand its origins but discovers that itsmemories may be more dangerous than it realizes. The film employs an eerie, atmospheric aesthetic, blending soft 2D/pixel aesthetics with postapocalyptic decay. Inspired by works like SOMA and Primordia, Remora presents a starkcontrast between mechanical resilience and organic collapse. Through minimal dialogue andvideo game style dialogues, the film invites the audience to question what it means to besentient and whether memory is a gift or a curse. At its core, Remora is a meditation on the fragility of perception and the weight of forgottentruths. As AI and human consciousness become more intertwined, this film challenges us toreconsider how we define identity and agency in an ever-evolving digital age.
