“As part of the "Futuristic Fungi" series, this illustration conveys the significant potential that exists in the study of fungi (mycology) for the benefit of space exploration since some species have extremophile qualities. This means that these organisms can withstand extreme environmental conditions such as radiation, potentially a lack of oxygen, or unusual temperatures.”
