High-end furniture often utilizes rare hardwoods such as teak, mahogany, and rosewood, which are sourced from forests in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. The extraction of these woods disproportionately benefits affluent consumers in developed nations, while local communities bear the environmental and social costs.
