Cut Open features a womon sitting knee deep in a pomegranate, looking upwards to make eye contact with the viewer.

“Continuing on my exploration of the body as fruit, Cut Open is inspired by the visual similarities between pomegranate seeds and blood cells. The figure is wrapped up in ribbon, which is a symbol of gifts and offerings. Cut Open is about giving up your body as collateral damage, and being cut into like a fruit. ”

“I paint surrealist landscapes with fantastical subject matter, portraying wondrous settings of 'make believe' that have excited me from a young age.”
