The first photograph created by Louis Daguerre revealed a view through a window. De Focus is a series that returns to the roots of photography as an experimental and unrefined practice. Each image is a composite made of several stacked "plates" using a lens absent a focusing mechanism. What is presented within the frame is captured using only the aperture of the lens, inhibiting detail, depth of field and clarity. Rather than standard representation, these images speak to the exhilaration of finding new ways to see through and create photographs with the apparatus of the camera.
