Environmental Design
“To me, design is not decoration but a vessel for negotiating—bridging people, nature, and built environments. Non-intrusive, ecologically responsive, and socially inclusive design is my approach to respecting and transforming the existing sites into unique and meaningful spatial experiences. With my interdisciplinary background in Environmental Design, I approach each project as a complex system. I balance the ecological function, the cultural relevance, and the user behavior. I strive for silent, invisible, yet long-lasting change: design that disappears into the surroundings, serves people with dignity, and grows more impactful with time.”

Qingsong Chen is an Environmental Design student. He is passionate about sustainable landscape and urban design. His interdisciplinary academic background bridges architecture, urban systems, and natural science. Through internships and academic research in various positions related to sustainable development and landscape design, he has explored the role of design in mediating between natural processes and human activities. Qingsong values silent, long-lasting impacts over visual spectacle, and believes design should be ecologically responsive, socially inclusive, and culturally grounded.
