Abstract Oil Painting

“The sun has always been a source of joy for me. As I grew older, I realized how essential it is to my happiness. My paintings recreate my emotional connection to the sun, with distortions reflecting how memories evolve over time. Thin layers of paint create subtle motion, inviting viewers to lose themselves between intricacy and rest.”

Mya Naidoo is a Toronto-based artist working with both painting and drawing. Her work explores the subconscious distortions of memory and familiar imagery, as a journal through her life. Mya connects moments with plants from the event, which she then turns into complexly layered compositions. Naidoo’s work has evolved from preserving her memories, into allowing others to uncover their personal subconscious distortions.
