Leanna Barwick is an undergraduate student at OCAD University, in the Digital Futures program. Leanna has been active in OCADU governance; from 2021-2023 serving as student representative in the Senate, Board of Governors, and Digital Futures Undergraduate Committee, and was exhibition director for Digital Futures Open Show 2022. Leanna was the Student Union Board of Directors as Accessibility Representative for the 2022/2 school year. Leanna Has been active in leading the formation of the Student Giovernance Committee over their two year term in various parts of governance they have served; along with elected student representatives, this endeavor is a cross-collaboration between the Senate, the Board of Governors and the Student Union to support student issues structurally beyond the elected term of individual student representatives.In the 2022/23 school year Leanna was the recipient of the Excellence in Student Leadership Award. This award, supported by Office of the President, aims to recognize the outstanding contributions of student leaders across the university in a variety of contexts, including but not limited to representing student perspectives in positions on OCAD U committees, working groups, task forces, governance bodies (such as the Senate or Board of Governors), or through publications, advocacy groups or the Student Union.Outside of OCADU Leanna is a professional coach and facilitator (PCC). Leanna supports leaders and organizations to co-design values driven strategic plans and accountability structures using creative tools and technology. Leanna currently sits on the Board of Directors for Dames Making Games (DMG), a not-for-profit videogame arts organization, and chairs the Governance Committee.
