“"EPICENE"Exploring the intersection of sustainability and self-expression through the lens of up-cycling, modular fashion, and gender-fluid design. By challenging the norms of fast fashion and embracing responsible creation, I aim to highlight the transformative potential of circular design practices. Through research into textile waste, consumer behaviour, and the cultural significance of androgynous fashion, my work advocates for conscious consumption and the reinvention of discarded materials.Inspired by the principles of modularity, I create garments with interchangeable components that adapt and evolve, encouraging longevity and reducing waste. Designed for continual personalization, these pieces allow wearers to adjust and reconfigure their garments to reflect changes in their body, style, and self-expression. Each garment is thoughtfully crafted using reclaimed textiles and deconstructed materials, celebrating the uniqueness of reclaimed materials and emphasizing the beauty of reuse. I employ techniques such as garment reconstruction, zero-waste pattern making, and textile collage to push the boundaries of sustainable design. Through this process, I explore the narrative potential of clothing, turning discarded materials into garments that tell stories of transformation and revival. The exploration of gender-fluid aesthetics further informs my creative approach. Drawing from historical and contemporary examples of androgyny in fashion, my designs blur the lines of traditional clothing categories. The resulting collection invites viewers to question societal norms while embracing fashion as a powerful medium for self-expression and social commentary.Through this exhibition, I seek to inspire a shift in how we perceive clothing — not as disposable commodities, but as stories woven from the fabric of our choices. My work envisions a future where fashion is not only innovative and expressive but also regenerative, inclusive, and responsible.
