“I am interested in making work that addresses the Anthropocene, the futility of existence and the nuance that confronts human beings in their daily circumstances.”

At its core, my work explores the act of contemplation as a mode facilitating awareness of all the contradictions and curiosities that exist within us. Often, the work takes form of a diagram, whether as drawing or paintings that portray situations in the midst of motion, a physical embodiment of a mental endurance test or the creation of a space with a singular goal to act as a mental playground. Whether it be two- or three-dimensional work, what consistently appears is the use of line as the prompt of contemplation. Present in my drawings and paintings is line in the form of movement, a moment in the midst of change, a representation of the persistent dichotomy of the micro and macro experiences encountered by any individual. My installation-based works use light as the line functioning in the same way- indicating motion, change, perhaps transformation. My deep desire to understand drives me to question and inspect myself and my relationship to the world. The aim is never really about finding an answer but rather surrendering to to the “why” and “what if” as a way to lure out our imaginations. When we successfully are able to identify the cause of friction or inquiry we encounter it becomes easier to open our minds to the possibility of a different reality. I want to prompt that with a playful futility, to remind people of their own autonomy, and encourage thinking for the sake of it.
