Drawing and Painting

“My paintings allow me to both re-enter a world that is long gone, one without worry and with endless time ahead, but also to find acceptance in the passing of time. I am driven by a longing for my childhood, and a fear of losing those around me as time moves forward. In creating this body of work, I am able to preserve artifacts of my childhood, to freeze them in time and re-physicalize them, thus giving them life once again. ”

Asha Hall is a 21 year old emerging artist based in Toronto whose work delves into nostalgia, grief, parental attachment, the acceptance of mortality, and the loss of childhood. After recently completing her Bachelors of Fine Art at one of Canada’s leading art and design schools, Hall hopes to continue building her visual language and create work that is meaningful to her. Hall continues to work through her emotions surrounding maturing, and aims to create work that can be relatable to those of all ages; whether it is a parent reminiscing on their own children or a young adult such as herself taking a moment to transport themselves back in time.
