This video documents a site-specific installation created with materials sourced from the Charente region of France. At its center lies an aged tree stump, its weathered surface is the quiet witness of time. Based on the diameter I estimate this stump could be around 150 years old. The charred texture of the wood is a striking contrast with a delicate cobweb. Sunlight filters through the surrounding trees, casting gentle shadows that move with the wind. Filmed on private property: Maison Les Buis, Charente, France.

“An aged tree stump, uprooted and carefully placed within a circle of local cobblestones, speaks to the experiences in settling in a new place. I moved this very heavy stump using only my legs—mirroring the way I’ve moved through the world. The stump looks impressively solid. The cobbles form a nest-like space, offering comfort and grounding. In this gesture, I transposed my own immigrant identity onto the stump: dislocated, carried, and re-rooted.”
