The painting shows a vivid pomegranate, split open and scattered across an tazhib ornamented golden plate, rendered on textured Japanese paper. Among the clusters of red seeds, small, detailed portraits drawn in fine graphite lines are embedded, blending human features into the fruit’s flesh. The plate features delicate gold floral patterns, while bright red juice spills organically across its surface. The right half of the composition is left empty, allowing the natural shimmer and texture of the Japanese paper to create contrast and space around the densely detailed fruit and faces.

“Blending Persian miniature tradition with contemporary narratives of identity, gender, memory, and transformation.”
