Sculpting the skeletal forms initially in wax allowed me to intimately explore and learn about the details of the most structural component of these animals. I began to understand how their structure informs their fluid/swimming motions in the water, and how the water informs their structure. The sculpted fossil forms are stylized to connect and flow to represent the watery motions of the animals, their environment and their inextricable connection.
