“As an active and curious creator, I regularly seek and refine techniques in traditional mediums and digital practices. Whether in handling printed matter or image editing. I wish to spark joy and inspiration through vibrant and saturated colours, such as in my photography and illustration. Throughout my creative journey, I strive to continue practicing my critical eye, self-directedness and process documentation.”
Caitlyn Gui is a Chinese-Canadian designer; She grew up in Macau (or Macao Special Administrative Region, MSAR), being exposed to Eastern and Western influences from a young age. Caitlyn studied at The International School of Macao (TIS), obtaining the International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Arts Standard Level Certificate and Alberta High School Diploma. In 2019, she received an award for outstanding achievement in Advanced Multimedia, constructed a solo exhibition, and sold the most copies of her photography piece, Blue Neighbourhood, at TIS Arts Night. Caitlyn continued her creative journey at OCAD University’s Graphic Design program and as a content creator with O Cappella (A cappella group) under OCAD U Live. There, she enrolled in multiple practice-based courses as a part of her studies, such as packaging design, children’s book illustration and typography; Also produced a self-initiated music cover and participated in multiple collaborative projects.
