Bel Andrade (they/them) is a trans/non-binary artist and recent graduate from OCAD U’s Sculpture and Installation BFA program, currently living and working in Toronto. Their artistic practice primarily focuses on the investigation and documentation of liminality, specifically exploring the liminal nature of queer bodies. An experienced metal worker and founding member of OCAD U’s Foundry Club, Bel often uses cast metal fabrication in order to memorialize queerness and celebrate non-conformity. By making casts of their body as it exists in certain key moments in their life, Bel explores the ways in which we interact with our experiences, and how those interactions manifest physically on and within us.
