““Fuzz” is a collection of Acrylic paintings on velvet with the goal of capturing the underlying sexual connotations within the broad spectrum of the nightlife scene within Toronto. Through academic research and personal experience the narrative of this collection carries the viewer through scenes of smoking pits, dance floors, and aftershow interactions. I seek to visualize the glamour and the flirtatious community that is the local music scene. Creating the narrative of a casual connection through the context of a show. I approach these paintings from a visually graphic perspective, intended for the viewer to feel like they're looking at a poster or album cover. The added element of black velvet paintings harkens back to kitschy velvet paintings from the 1970s. bringing added elements of a sensual, but also grungy environment like a dimly lit bar. Overall, the goal of “Fuzz” is to visually show the viewer that sex and innuendo is still prevalent in the contemporary music scene even when fame isn't in the picture. ”
