“Disembodied visualizes embodied phrases through a lens of dysphoria and dysmorphia to contrast the body as a personifying force for language, yet a source of dehumanization for people.”

Reeves Lu is an illustrator and oil painter based in Oakville, Ontario. They currently attend OCADu, pursuing their BDes in illustration. Reeves creates representational works that strive to escape into fantastical aesthetics, and express the overwhelming feelings of grief and discomfort. Their representation of the human form revolves around the closely held belief that our bodies not only contain us, but that they trap our personhood, asking whether representation of our bodies can represent us as people. Reeves is inspired by the act of close observation, high fantasy, napping, and queerness.
