Printmaking
“My artistic practice focuses on two main technical printmaking experiments. Firstly, impressions of real objects via pressure printing techniques, soft ground etching, and direct exposure onto silkscreens. And secondly, the role of transparency in layer building and substrate choice and manipulation. I adhere to both professional editioning of prints as well as one of one monoprints. Exploring themes of femininity and how I fit into the expectations of womanhood with attention to gendered clothing and symbols of the feminine. My work also follows the mundane, depicting scenes of the unappreciated and unseen. In past work, also exploring the unseen tasks and lifestyle of the service industry in which I am apart of. Through the process of print, I put everyday societal norms under a microscope to be investigated beyond their surface value. ”

Hi! I'm Gwyn.I'm a multimedia printmaker who experiments with pressure printing, intaglio, and screen printing. I fell in love with print in my first year at OCADu and have never looked back. I thrive in the tedious process print requires and the realm of possibilities within print as a whole.I have experimented in almost all print techniques from lithography to collographs. I love the vastness printmaking allows. In style, process, and yielding final results. As well as the unconfined uses it has in society. Postgrad I'm looking to further my print practice into the real world. Pushing that print media is not dead but rather alive and thriving!
