“I like horror and drawing! :3My thesis film FORTRESS is a 3-minute 2D digital animation that uses comic-inspired elements and simulated analogue textures to tell the story of two young teens navigating life in the zombieapocalypse. Contrasting childhood innocence with survival and death, the film experiments invisualizing both the playful perspective of a young kid in and a grim reality.”

Ari D (also known as Wynturr online) is a South Asian Toronto-based 2D animator who loves character acting and storytelling. Through studying Experimental Animation at OCAD University, they’re bringing new life to their character-driven art and storytelling that focuses on themes like identity and connection. They love horror and stories that force people to confront their fears in high-stakes scenarios, whether that be in the mundane becoming supernatural or in exploring monster-filled apocalyptic worlds. Ari’s main project in development is “LATE NIRVANA”: the story of two teens April and Chester, who aren’t particularly fond of each other, looking for survivors in the zombie apocalypse only to run into trouble along the way. A glimpse of this story was told in their thesis film “FORTRESS” where the two attempt to find shelter but must confront their fears first.
