“My artistic practice is deeply rooted in personal experiences of conflict, displacement, and loss; while reflecting upon my childhood memories of the Iraq/US war. This body of work explores, confronts, and captures the profound emotional, physical, and psychological impacts and aftermaths of such lived experiences. I-AM-The-AFTERMATH. As such, my process innately expresses the raw emotion and resiliency needed to survive, while also simultaneously challenges the West's colonial narratives of misinformation in the shaping of public perceptions of conflict in the East. Ultimately, my work seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexities of war and its lasting impact on individuals and communities. Provoking a reflection and inspiring a collective shift towards an anti-colonialist and anti-racist future.”
