Decades of Dance

Composed of a total of twenty-five modules and one hundred and fifty hands, this piece was designed to represent my friend, Ashvini’s, passion for dance. With over a decades worth of experience, Ashvini continues to share her knowledge in Classical dance through teaching and performing. Each hand and shadow represents her students who will carry on Classical dancing for future generations.

“Each module features six folded hands in the Katakamukha gesture, totaling 150 hands that cast dancing shadows under the spotlight just as Ashvini's do on stage. Additionally, each hexagonal unit is interconnected without the use of any glue or adhesives.”
