Somersa

Somersa is a visionary adaptive-reuse project of The Girifalco Fortress (Cortona, Italy, begun 1556) that uses the historical, spiritual, and ritual significance of water as a medium for ‘connection.’ Here, ‘connection’ transcends the interpersonal; the term is reimagined in its totality, expanding beyond person-to-person interaction to embrace the world we inhabit in all of its parts. The community-centred retreat blends water with immersive sensory experiences, guiding users toward personal renewal and the forging of meaningful relationships with themselves, their environment, and others.
