Sorrow, yet Surrender
Installation
2026
Screenprint on fabric, Wheat paste on air-dry clay, and Risograph zine.
4 x 8 ft
This piece explores the complexities of holding grief, deep sadness, fading memories, and connections that inevitably change. It considers the act of bearing and holding, placing it within the artwork as a space to contain, one where others are invited to hold and experience. Through repeated imagery on fabric, clay, and a zine, the work enacts a sense of holding for what feels difficult to bear alone. An act of surrender to these complexities, and to sorrow, becomes both necessary and inevitable.Bringing together past emotions with present thoughts preserved in printed form, Sorrow, yet Surrender asks, how does the act of holding mirror an artwork’s capacity to hold? How is grief carried, and where does it stay? What memories do we hold onto? Where can we place these complexities when their weight exceeds what we can carry?
