Canada’s Lobster Lifeline is a data-driven project that looks at the story behind one of Canada’s biggest seafood exports. On the surface, lobster is a huge success, bringing in billions of dollars every year. Although, most of it is heavily dependent on the U.S., especially through restaurants and dining culture.Through a series of visualizations and magazine spreads, I explored where lobster travels, who relies on it, and what that dependency really means. The project highlights how something as everyday as a meal is actually connected to global trade, local communities, and the health of our oceans. At the end of the day, this work is about making those connections visible, helping people understand that lobster isn’t just food, it’s part of a much bigger system that we all play a role in.
