The concept of this piece was to use form as a tool to convey ideas of eternal rest. This footstool is constructed with "five smooth stones" connected by two dowels. The five wooden pieces referred to as "stones" point to the inspiring biblical account of a young shepherd boy - David. David was able to accomplish far more than He could have imagined through His embrace of the rest found in fellowship with His creator. As this footstool fulfills its material purpose of supporting one's legs in rest, let it be a deeper reminder to the user that eternal is an open invitation to all who walk this journey of life through fellowship with the mind that birthed all existence. The simple act of rest, often so neglected, is set to be satisfied truly only at the very core of our beings.

“This piece is an invitation to all those journeying this road of life to find rest for their ever-wandering legs in the complete work of their Creator. As we all embark on journeys of our own, walking down the paths that have been set before us, we must realize that partnership with our Creator relieves us from the weight of many burdens along the way and lifts us to walk in the grace of accomplishing much more than we could ever think or imagine.Just like the story of David and Goliath, all the odds were against this 17-year-old shepherd boy, yet he stood tall above experience, man-made weapons, and fear. He stood in the gap for his nation when it mattered most. The beauty of this was that he didn't embark on this battle himself. He came in the name (in the perfect rest) of the Lord of Hosts. As far as David was concerned, it was the Lord's battle, not his. In the place of rest, David found that he was more capable than ever to execute that which he was ordained to do. Picking up only five smooth stones, at the face of a bronze armory, he put an end to tyranny. He found true rest and ability in partnership with his Creator.How many of us truly are in need of this rest David embraced? Our legs, weary and tired of carrying the burdens of this walk on our own.
