Somewhere Over The Rainbow, I find Peace
Painting
This painting is the story of a descent, slow, seductive, and almost beautiful. The sea beneath me is a sea of temptation, a quiet grave of everything I once believed would save me, that society believes will save them.
“Somewhere over the rainbow, I find peace—peace in what was, what is, and what’s to come, but only after walking through a darkness people turn a blind eye to. My body echoes the pose of Jesus on the cross, not out of holiness, but surrender. A moment suspended between drowning and salvation. Temptation doesn’t disappear just because you escape it; sometimes it whispers louder once you’ve learned to breathe again. This painting admits that truth:that even after rebirth, the shadows still call your name. That the past isn’t gone—it’s waiting at the water’s edge to pull me back down under. This work is a confession.A warning.A burial. The echo of my past”
