Acrylic Painting: Second of series of paintings about Imaginary Landscapes collaged from photos of loved ones
“When separated from family and friends, it's difficult not to feel isolated; A longing for the connection of being in space with people that you love. When I was younger, I would walk through the park with my family and talk for hours. Texting and sharing photos can’t capture the memory of being together in a moment. Photographs, when sent over text, are only one snapshot of a whole environment. I've made two acrylic paintings on three-by-five-foot canvas, chosen to mimic the long body of a phone screen. My works are based on collages made up of photos shared with me from friends and family. Creating imaginary landscapes that we share across distances that represent and are the way I continue to build the bonds with those I love.”
