Language, System, Gesture traces a progression from structured language, through systems of power, to embodied expression. This three-part series moves from the historical construction of Korean writing systems, through the socio-economic and hierarchical structures of post-colonial South Korea, and into calligraphic practice–examining how identity, power, and authorship are shaped and expressed over time. Presented as a single publication with multiple entry points, the work can be read in different sequences, where each order reframes the relationship between language, power, and identity. A nonlinear publication exploring language, system, and gesture through multiple reading sequences; revealing how meaning and interpretations shift depending on where we begin.
