Blowing in my Miso Soup

“Growing up in and working at my family's restaurant, this still life comes from a context that is materially part of my life, tied to lineage, labour, and environment. Every week, I blow into my miso soup and watch the spirals in hypnosis. There is a delight in heightened observation of these mundane moments, praising the present and unconditional self. They function as entry points into a mode of understanding that resists novelty and urgency, becoming sites where sensation, memory, and interiority can gather. ”
