How might we reduce financial anxiety in young adults by giving them clarity and control over their money?
“Investie is a personalized financial literacy app designed to help Gen Z build money confidence through gamified learning. We teach users how money actually works, from credit cards and budgeting to stocks and ETFs, before they risk real capital. The app breaks down complex financial concepts into short, interactive lessons, quizzes, and real-world scenarios, making learning feel intuitive and engaging.A billion gen z are investing in stocks, but only 17% say they feel confident about their knowledge of markets. When I was 19, I lost thousands of dollars in the stock market because I was following influencer advice. I tried to learn through books and financial websites, but they were dry, confusing, and hard to stay consistent with. Unable to find an engaging, reliable, and fun resource for me to learn stocks, I decided to create Duolingo for money.Investie gamifies boring financial literacy information and makes them into bite sized modules. With each level completed, users get bamboo shoots to exchange for giftcards. With just 5 minutes a day, in 3 months, users go from feeling lost about money to making confident financial decisions.Insight:Gen Z isn’t failing to learn about money because information is unavailable, they’re failing because financial education is mistimed, generic, and disengaging. Most only seek help after making costly mistakes, and existing tools feel overwhelming or boring, making consistency nearly impossible.Idea:Investie delivers personalized, bite-sized financial lessons triggered by real-life financial activity. When a user takes an action—like getting a credit card or spending patterns changing—the app unlocks a short, interactive module explaining exactly what they need to know in that moment. Gamification mechanics like streaks, quizzes, and rewards (redeemable for gift cards) make learning engaging and habit-forming.Impact:By meeting users at the moment of decision, Investie transforms passive financial education into active behaviour change. Users build confidence before making mistakes, reduce financial anxiety, and develop long-term money habits in just minutes a day.How it differs:Unlike traditional platforms or apps like Zogo and Bloom that offer static, one-size-fits-all content, Investie combines real-time personalization with gamification. Turning each user’s financial life into a dynamic, evolving curriculum.”
