Instant Butterfly Effect

Have you ever wondered how many times one tiny action has led you down the path you are currently on? Similar to the butterfly effect, which takes years of contemplation and realization to recognize, or sometimes appears out of thin air. To foster human connection through this universal "wow" moment, this interactive experience allows audiences to see the immediate impact of their movement in real time, while contributing to a wall of shared knowledge that can be passed down and appreciated.

“I have often found myself wondering about the decisions and choices I have made in the past that have led me to become who I am today. Some were more recognizable than others, some were akin to a whim, but they have all awarded me with profound experience regardless. That's where I started this project: by linking movement to personal choices and visually displaying the immediate butterfly effect through increasing the causation impact on a globe graphic.To expand the project, there's a communal aspect where participants can share their life lessons from their past choices. Participants do this by writing their lessons on a note, pinning it on the Wall of Collective Knowledge, and have the option to take another note that resonates with them. This is part of my hope to bring people together on some common ground and build human connections in spaces that are often overlooked. Ideally, this interactive installation can be treated as a public service announcement and placed in locations with lots of foot traffic, such as Union Station, Eaton Centre Square, and outdoors. Ultimately, this 2-part interactive project hopes to foster a meaningful learning exchange between participants and build into their growth journey.”
