India's independent music scene has grown steadily since the early 2000s, but much of that growth, particularly across regional, non-charting, and emerging artists, has gone largely unrecorded in any centralized dataset.This publication responds to that gap by constructing its own datasets from fragmented sources: streaming platforms, industry reports, festival lineups, and audience indicators. Rather than relying on a single data source, it assembles a more complete picture from the pieces available.The result is an accessible visual exploration of the evolution, geography, and diversity of India's independent music ecosystem; an industry often overshadowed by Bollywood but rich in creative and cultural depth.
