Powderized alarm clock radios, polyester resin, modified alarm clock buzzers, sleeping bag fabric, cotton pant fabric, tripods, hardware, glue, ultrasound waves
48 x 42 x 30 inches
This device is structured around approximately thirty used alarm clock radios that have been cryogenically powderized and bound with polyester resin to form a high-strength composite shell. Two clock buzzers have been preserved within the shell and amplified to 40kHz - an ultrasonic frequency not detectable by the human ear. Ultrasound is frequently employed in the medical field to image internal body structures in real time, as well as in sonar, automatic door openers, and robotic guidance systems. Contact with human flesh produces a small amount of heat and cellular agitation; in airborne settings it may induce subtle psychochemical effects.
