“Midnight Monologues is a series of animated visual poems that transform intimate reflections into immersive, multi-sensory experiences. Combining abstract 3D animation, generative visuals, footage, sound design, and multilingual voiceover, the work explores love, loss, and emotional memory through a globally resonant lens. The project integrates Spanish, English, Japanese, and Chinese, using language as a sonic bridge to evoke connection across cultures—positioning love as a shared human experience. This installation centers on Chapter 1: Goodbye, My Dear Mr. Enigma, which traces the emotional detachment from a romantic figure and the quiet complexity of farewell. It captures the fragile moment where intimacy dissolves, identity fragments, and endings begin to transform into new beginnings.Presented as a hybrid VR and projection-based installation, the work unfolds across two parallel experiences: the interior and exterior self. While projection invites a collective encounter, the virtual environment immerses the viewer within a surreal greenhouse—an evolving architecture of memory and emotion, where feelings are preserved, exposed, and continuously reinterpreted.”

Melanie Aguilar Garcia, also known as Mad4u, is a Mexican-born, Toronto-based digital artist working across animation, immersive media, and real-time systems. With a foundation in illustration and over eight years of experience, her practice centers on psychological and spiritual introspection, exploring love, memory, and the complexities of human vulnerability. Her work transforms emotional states into visual and spatial experiences. Through 3D animation, generative processes, and interactive environments, she constructs immersive worlds where feeling takes precedence over explanation. Situated between surrealism, futurism, femininity, and abstraction, her visual language is shaped by an urban, alternative, and subtly gothic sensibility—balancing softness with darkness, and intimacy with distance.
