A projection-mapped installation that transforms miniature sculptures of Scarborough into animated, voice-driven environments, exploring how memory, routine, and personal experience shape our understanding of a place.

“This project presents Scarborough as a collection of everyday regions, using miniature sculptures, projection mapping, and recorded voices to explore memory and belonging at a human scale. Each location–such as transit stations, parks, and public spaces–is represented through a simplified, hand-built prop that is activated through projected animation and sound.Rather than focusing on iconic landmarks, the work highlights ordinary environments shaped by routine and lived experiences. These spaces become meaningful not through spectacle, but through repetition, familiarity, and personal memory. The inclusion of recorded voices adds a layer of intimacy, emphasizing that place is constructed through multiple perspectives rather than a single narrative. The handmade props are intentionally stylized and simplified, reflecting the way memory prioritizes feeling over detail. Projection mapping allows these static objects to shift and transform, reinforcing the idea that places are not fixed, but continuously reinterpreted. By combining physical and digital elements, the project creates an immersive and accessible experience that invites viewers to reconsider their relationship to places, and to recognize the emotional significance of everyday environments.”
