The use of 3D environments in Crayons represent how life was perceived, evoking the fragility and distortion of nostalgia. By using different styles of texturing, modelling and animation, I wanted to evoke a specific feeling for each stage of life. Childhood is colourful and vibrant, inspired by familiar places from my past. I focused in the feeling rather than accuracy, making hand-drawn textures to represent the freedom of being a kid.Adolescence is realistic, full of changes and self discovering but also it's the moment we start to conform to society. I believe it was the moment I had the most questions yet had to move forward pretending I knew what to do. Finally, adulthood expressed the pessimistc exageration of life, full of grunge. I decided to make pencil and chalk scribbles as a base for the texture, ultimately enhancing the flatness of this stage. I aimed to evoke the feeling of boredom and emptiness.
