Insomnia
Painting
2026
Acrylic on unstretched canvas
61 x 180"
This work explores perception, insomnia, and the tension between control and uncertainty, with forms that suggest moments of pareidolia.
“Drawing on paradoxical insomnia, it examines the instability of subjective experience. Set within a fluid, underwater abstract landscape, forms continuously dissolve and shift, creating a sense of unease and tension. Referencing the floating movement of water striders and ducks, the work emphasizes lightness and instability, amplifying a dynamic sense of motion while questioning how balance is perceived and maintained. Extending from the wall onto the floor, the work forms a continuous, organic flow that reinforces this sense of instability and resists fixed boundaries, suggesting experiences that cannot be defined by a single interpretation”
