Honey Comb Table
Industrial Design
2024
Based on the idea that I wanted this table to function as a storage unit, I began by sketching something that resembled more of a entertainment unit, or a bookshelf. These sketches were more focused on the idea of shelving, and felt less like a table. After speaking with my professor I was pushed to go in a flatter direction, and ended up flipping the design over so that the shelving became part of the legs / support, and there would be a flat top. I like designing with simple forms and so the idea of hexagon shelves came quite quickly to me. Initially I wanted to do octagons in a similar vein to my cutting board project, but I realized that it would very complicated to work with so many pieces of wood.
